Friends and Family Winter 2010
Dear Friends and Family
It’s a warm, melting day in the little Shinlahekan Valley where I live, making it feel like spring in the dry and dark of winter. ….White Buffalo Calf Woman’s time >>when long past are informative experience and productivity (South/summer) which ripened into knowledge for harvest (West, autumn). Now they soften, dry, release and let go of the particular, turning NORTH: giving more and more full attention to the dormant, the unformed, the quiet potential in the wisdom lake by which She sits, under a full starry bowl of night sky.
SHE SITS BY HER WISDOM LAKE
AND HOLDS THE SACRED BOWL
OF ALL THAT RESTS.
IT IS
MIDNIGHT,
MIDWINTER,
A YOUNG YOU LOOKS OUT OVER SNOW
- ICED TO RAINBOW CRYSTAL -
UNDER FULL SILVERY MOONLIGHT.
SNOWY OWL. SILENT, HOVERS ABOVE YOUR HEAD;
AND BEHIND YOU
STANDS WHITE BUFFALO CALF WOMEN,
HER LEFT HAND
ON THE NECK OF A WHITE BUFFALO:
IN A FORM OF BEAUTY AND HONOR,
THE GREAT MOTHER -
AN EARTH WOMAN,
WOMAN OF LIGHT.
WHOA-IS-dTA.
WHOA-IS-dTA
A WOMAN OF LIGHT.
DAWN STAR WOMAN
NOW, YOUR RADIANT IMAGE,
YOU WHO BRING FORTH
THE FEMININE ENERGY OF THE CHRIST:
LOVE……….
OFFERING A WAY TO USE WELL
THE CENTRAL AND PRIMAL ENERGY OF LOVE,
( HOW TO LIVE WELL IN HUMAN FORM
ON THIS PARTICULAR EARTH! ).
YOU OFFER THE APEX
OF WHAT IS NOW REQUIRED
FOR TRANSFORMATION:
LOVE IN ITS DEEPEST, MOST ADAMIC STATE,
GUIDED THROUGH
THE NURTURING AND RENEWING POWER
OF THE FEMININE .
AH, IT IS GOOD!
DAWN STAR WOMAN, MORNING STAR WOMAN, with the energy of Mary Magdelene will bring us through into springtime with sprouts from dormant wisdom appearing upon the face of the Earth. Warming sun love lighting us again.
We awaken in a new day, a new season, on this sweet Earth: a time of walking in light, love and harmony with Lady Gaia – Eawa, if you will.
Help Create a Shrine to Gaia
Speaking of the goddess, I am being invited to create a shrine to Lady Gaia, sweet Mother Earth, here at FlowerSong. I have always worked for Her, and this is my next assignment. I know there will be some amazing people - artists, sculptures, landscapers, Earth lovers, more - who come to help me create this initial, primal form – which will then, in perfect timing, endow the energy of a temple in another place. The shrine Is now a work in winter: a vision, a dream to come true, manifesting in the warmth and productivity of summertime. I know those of you who are to be with me in this process will be drawn to come to the little paradise sanctuary, filled with blossoming trees and exquisite fruit, to make something exceptionally beautiful happen.
For a very long time, I have known that one of the last quadrants of my life would be as an elder of a temple. I remember a lifetime when I kept a small temple, now long gone, on the stupendous mountain overlook of the ancient medicine wheel in Wyoming. From that high place, through the enormous crystal lodged there, communications were received and sent across the land in all directions - a more advanced system than one of power lines, or even of our present harmful radiating rays.
It was kept by a sisterhood of amazing, wise, light and beautiful women, goddesses all, and its function supported by a more hidden lodge of the powerful men who came forth to care for all at the temple, supplying its every need.
Those quiet years of keeping will come for me, in their own time, years down the road. In the meantime, I may be a wanderer, bringing flowering shrines of the Great Mother, and honoring / planting sacred groves, in many places.
It’s intersting how quickly harmony manifests when the energy is clear. There was the energy of shame brought here, spoken and held. The great Mother removed it. Now another level of blossoming, radiance and beauty is coming forward, offerings its incredible gifts. What a joy to create a simple, exquisite shrine to our beautiful, bountiful, beneficial and blessed Lady Gaia, to support and hold her in her newly initiated cosmic place: that of home to an awakening of a Golden time a harmony, abundance, peace, light and love for All. As we can come into the joyful state of what is becoming, we are allowed the high pleasure of staying on Mother Earth , rather than being sent to the other planet where destruction and greed and fear and harshness are still working out…!!!
Harvest in Eden
Did I tell you how wonderful our harvests were? Although I was sad that my favorite fruits – peaches and nectarine – were killed early by the frost, I was glad to have no more to do than there was. To take care of this fruit is a full and rich occupation, which seeps into every crack of our time when this lushness is offering itself: drying, juicing, canning, EATING, yummmm. Such a pleasure in the moment! And some of that pleasure is captured by preservation - to be enjoyed during the winter and spring, even into fall when the next harvest is full in the pantries and cellars. Fruits, and vegetables, roots, for winter’s nourishment. It’s a wonderful cycle, and an intense one.
I’ve been left with this exquisite, complex little paradise to care for by myself, with the ‘sage’ advice: “You can hire someone to help.” Instead I am inviting those to get in touch with me, who will assist me in stewarding and caring for this sweet little orchard garden sanctuary from May until October (and maybe staying for winter!) - rewarded by the opportunity to make this little Eden home for short or long stays. You need to love to work and make beauty; add the exquisite edge of attention to detail; lie in the sun on the cedar deck by the pool as a sweet afternoon treat; eat fresh organic food: help in artfully redecorating and dedicating the gypsy wagon; know the feel of a working shovel in your hands; treasure growing and flowering and leafing things; have hands that itch to make something wonderful happen…..
It would also be great to have your stupendous cooking; wonderful massage; green thumb no-turn gardening skills; carpentry and stone work knowledge; lawn care expertise; orchard knowledge; expert computer assistance with mail and web; and joy in making it rain with the wonderful water we have here in our very beautiful pond (swimming hole under the weeping willow down by the tipi and hammock)…… See Assistance in Eden.
Ahhh, what a place! And I have the good fortune to call it home, to be its keeper and stewardess ;-). Well, it isn’t steward for women, is it now? Or maybe it is. …..
Great Loss
Sunny Baba has left to find things and people to make his life work. By his own report, he wants “wilder, greener pastures with spontaneous creation and no responsibility; and younger, freer, less competent women”. There’s no arguing with that, and I know he must seek his own happiness. And yet it left me incredibly overwhelmed and grieving in so many ways: I lost my beloved; my husband who helped make such a beautiful physical life around me; the land steward of this place; endless possibilities of the golden beauty we could continue to bring forward in union, and more . . . a dream of partnership and closeness and creation.
I am left enormously enriched by his gifts: the beautiful places we created together; the wonderful gypsy wagon we built; walking beside him in making a complete homestead as well as enhancing the beauty and productivity of everywhere we stayed; getting a better understanding of the East Indian way of enlightenment; knowing the power of a still mind; the deep and lasting friendships made; the ease and joy of simplicity; the exquisite experience of loving more fully than I have ever loved in this lifetime; the opportunity to become more myTaurus, feminine creative self in making home beautiful, productive, sustainable, harmonious; and very especially, enjoying the husbanding of an incredibly capable man who reminded me so much of my homesteading family and loved the Earth as I do…..the list could go on…..
And last but not least, the beautiful buckskin clothes he made to my design and the courage he gave me to keep making them on my own. Ahhh, contributing to my clothing addiction…………hummm, but good stuff!
And there were challenging parts of the relationship from which I learned tremendously, and have been given much to share with the many others of you who have similar experience. I make an offering of teaching about it for the benefit of all who portray this pattern. May loving kindness reign on this sweet Earth. ((link))
Love in Action
So I sit now in gratefulness, finding myself and my vision again – my deepening connection to our beloved Gaia, and my dedication to making a positive difference with this one, wild and wonderful life that I am now given. I was invited for the last few years to make little beaded pouches and handicrafts my only gift to the world, yet those of you who know me are clear that would not be nearly satisfying. There is more and joyful work /play (wish we had a better word: offering?) to do and be in order to become fully self-realized - to put God-realization / Oneness into action and fruition on the ground of Earth. I joyfully set about that process with all my vocation…
It’s interesting to keep looking more deeply as my latest vocational appelation: Chalise – a chalice overflowing with Light and Love. I can feel the essence of that echoeing in the creation dream of Gaia’s shrine – the womblike chalice of it. I’m fascinated to see how it plays out in this 29 year cycle of my life.
And I am filled with love, willing to find an amazing partner to share my creation dreams. I like loving and working together, and leaning back against a capable and beautiful-hearted man. I love offering myself into devoted service, being adored and served in return. I love what can be felt and done in the union of two. It’s a beautiful way of walking…….
Life is Good
The stars are out tonight; the fire is burning, bright and warm, in my log cabin home; my kitty boy pal Aztec is purring on my lap; I am cracking enormous walnuts from the orchard down the road, roasted lightly on the stove to eat warm and sweet. Life is good.
I’m just back from two weeks on the wonderful Baja coast at Todos Santos, living in a beautiful villa near the beach. The village energy; the sun; the booming surf breaking on the shore; the whales seen spouting from our 2nd story patio; the joy of community – answering the call to a fresh caught dorado taco meal by walking through the radiant starlight to a neighbor’s place. I came home feeling like my true self once again - after going through what seemed the fires of hell for a few months – tanned, light, nourished, healthy, vibrant, rested….. And invited to go back there next year, perhaps with the gypsy wagon, to stay and enjoy the winter months with a fun and conscious group of people. Thanks to my friend She Bear and her girls, who gifted me this incredible and unfolding opportunity. Thanks to all the goddesses who grace and nourish my life!
Then through and beyond the month of February, I will be with my dear friend and dolphin boat captain, Victoria Rose and a circle of amazing women friends and students, in Key West, Florida. The dolphins have heard my music on that boat for decades and I have swum with them before; I will enjoy being first mate. So we’ll sing beauty with them – gathering groups of women to SING THE SACRED (which is another aspect of my continuing work). You might like to join us there in the warm sand, beautiful water country. LINK
May joy fill your life as you walk through your days and challenges with a strong heart filled with grace and ease.
